Description
Sugar Snap Pea is a snap pea that has thick pods; green in color. A household name for its sweet, crisp pods, Sugar Snap germinates well in cold, wet soil, and the vigorous plants quickly produce a thick stand that requires support. Vines avg. 72" with 1 or 2 pods per node. Yields well over a long season in both hot and cold weather. Remove string from pods before cooking. Needs trellising.
Seeds are Organic from Johnny's Select Seeds and grown with OMRI Certified ProMix Soil, Gnatrol, and Fish Fertilizer for nutrients. We have a great home-grown process to grow our plants. We are not a certified organic farm.
Plants will be available as approx 10 in a 6 pack AND 2 packages of 15 seeds. You can plant the first seeds when you receive them and the second package 3 weeks later for beans all season long. Be sure to keep picking them so each plant will keep producing.
TIP - Peas, like most veggie/fruit plants will only grow long enough to produce the next generation of seeds. Once they make a mature pea they stop producing, HOWEVER, if you keep picking the peas, the plant will think it hasn't accomplished it's mission to grow the next generation. So if you go on vacation this summer ask your neighbors to come pick some snap peas for you!
Plant Spacing recommendation is Plant 2-3" apart in rows 24" apart (likes to climb!). Plant outside after last frost when night time lows are at LEAST 50*F consistently otherwise plant will likely be stunted or perish.
