About

Fence Post Flower Farm started with a box of flower seeds.

It was January 2021, I was weary and craving connection.

The seed packets were from 2015 when I pushed grandpa around the plant nurseries that spring before he passed that summer. It would be my “uphill both ways” story as we looked at every perennial (that he already had in his garden). I can still remember the warm sunshine after a chilly spring.

Opening the tin in 2021 shaped everything this farm is:

  • It reminded me of shucking corn on grandma’s back deck
  • The shovel grandpa left in his van, just in case someone had a perennial for him to dig up
  • The countless plant swaps in our family.

It gave me a nostalgia that wasn’t just stuck in the past, it was a tangible anchor between a generation who had passed and the family I was raising now, a new generation grandpa, hadn’t been able to enjoy.

2026 marks the sixth year we are gardening in “the big garden” and my outlook is different than when I started this farm.

When I first started I thought the garden was about getting the plants right, the sun, the spacing, the things.

But as you can see it’s never been about the plants, it’s always been about the people, planting it forward with those they love.

It’s about planning at the kitchen table and winging it when planting in the garden strikes a new inspiration.

It’s exclaiming about mosquitos and it’s grabbing grasshoppers out of the air so they can’t munch another tomato.

It’s the hose being turned on you, the dirt thrown by curious hands, and the black lab waiting for her garden snacks.

It’s not about doing these things alone – it’s about doing them together with the ones and for the ones we love.

It’s not about rules, trends, or even successful harvests – it’s about giving ourselves permission to think less about the plants and connect more with the people.

What does that look like around here?

As a grower, a planner, and someone who has learned to stop and enjoy the toddlers – I’ve learned this.

Planning with intention yields better fruit, in your soul.

Gardens can be big and abundant or they can be the last thing you need on your to-do list as you’re making summer memories.

I help gardeners take a truthful look at their season of life, because the gardens that mattered most were the ones that supported our family, no matter what was planted and no matter how the season went.

My work is for gardeners who want to plan with confidence.

Who need the gentle nudge to notice what’s working AND to let go of guilt.

I’m here for those who want to grow in a way that feels thoughtful instead of overwhelming.

Family, work, summer breaks, and soaking up sunshine is far more important than “doing it all” in your garden. Trust me, I’ve tried it.

I offer seasonal planners, inspirational writings, and speak locally to help gardeners slow down, reconnect with their why, and let their garden become a place of nourishment instead of stress.

You don’t need to DO more to have a good garden.

You just need a garden friend to help you plan a garden that fits your real life.

If you’re looking for permission to do less and trust yourself more in the garden — you’re in the right place.

I’m glad you’re here.
